Nowadays more and more people are running, which encourages people to start up all the time – but before you think about running you need to plan a few things and think about it. 1 . Buy yourself some good running shoes

Our top tip would have to be that you do not scrimp on price too much, but don’t think you need a very expensive pair of super duper shoes to begin running. However, if you’re serious about running then it’s a good idea to have yourself fitted at a running store and maybe even test a pair out to see what will best match your running technique, as different shoes are designed for different types of feet. The right shoe for one person is the wrong shoe for another and will cause injury – some need more cushion or some may need more heal cushion etc. A good running store can test you to make sure you get the right shoe.

2. Devise a plan to spend 20-30 minutes at a time

To start of you will need space out the days between runs  to allow for recovery. You will be able to gradually increase the intensity as well as the number of times you run per week as time goes by and you get into a rhythm.

3. Remember to warm up before a run

When you are starting out as a runner, walk or lightly jog for 5 to 10 minutes first to warm up your muscles. As you gain experience, you can start with a slow jog as a warmup. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned runner you will always need some sort of warm up before a run.

4. Try stretching you leg muscles before and after a run

Although the benefits and/or drawbacks to stretching before a run are controversial, there is little argument about the benefits of stretching at the end of each workout. You should aim to stretch out each muscle group, holding each stretch for at least 15 – 20 seconds.

5. Make running a habit

If you are running more than 3 times a week then I believe you have caught the running bug – but to be running several sessions per week it means you have got into the habit of running. On the other hand you could be running a few times, say on the weekends, and every weekend you might only have the time then to run.

What You’ll Need

1 head of garlic
100g~ish of butter, unsalted
1 Skinless Chicken breast per person
100g Plain Flour
5 Eggs
Breadcrumbs

How to Make Homemade Chicken Kiev’s

Step 1 - Garlic Butter - Wrap the garlic in foil and put in the oven for 30 mins
Step 2 - After 30 minutes, take off the foil and cut off the top and squeeze out the roasted garlic.
Step 3 - Mix the garlic with an equal quantity of softened butter, some chopped parsley, and season with salt and pepper, mixing together  until it is smooth and creamy.
Step 4 - Make sure to keep it soft, perhaps putting it in a piping bag will make the task easier.
Step 5 - The Chicken – Using a skinless chicken breast make a deep pocket in the breast with a little knife, and pipe the garlic butter mixture inside.
Step 6 - Breadcrumbs - Roll the stuffed chicken breast in seasoned flour, then in an egg wash and then roll in breadcrumbs.
Step 7 - Cooking - Fry in vegetable oil in a deep-fat fryer/deep pan (set at 180’) until golden
Step 8 - Transfer the Kiev to a hot oven (200’) for 15 minutes.

  • 680g minced beef
  • 1-2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • Handful of mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 Red/Green peppers, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped/crushed finely
  • 1 tin of tomatoes
  • Seasoning – salt and pepper
  • 500ml cheese/white sauce
  • 10 pasta sheets
  • 150g grated cheese

How To Make Lasagne

Step 1 - Preheat your oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
Step 2 - Saute the onion and garlic using the olive oil until golden in colour.
Step 3 - Add the mince and fry for 12 mins or until the mince is browned and cooked through.
Step 4 - Add the peppers and mushrooms and fry for a further 6 mins or until soft.
Step 5 - Add the tomatoes, salt and pepper and leave to simmer in the pan.
Step 6 - Building the lasagne – In a large greased ovenproof dish, layer a third of the mix and cover with pasta sheets, then pour a third of the white sauce over and repeat this for 2 more layers. On the third layer sprinkle the grated cheese over the last layer of white sauce and place in the oven once preheated.

Easy Mince Pie Recipe


INGREDIENTS:

  • 12 oz/350g all purpose/plain flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 8oz/ 225g butter, cubed or an equal mix of butter and lard
  • 1 beaten egg + 1 cold water as needed
  • 1 jar of mincemeat, shop bought or home made
  • 2 tbsp icing sugar

COOKING METHOD:

To begin, heat the oven to 400°F/205°C/Gas 6
Make the Pastry for the Pies

  • Place the flour, butter and salt into a large mixing bowl.
  • Rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips until the mixture looks and feels like fine breadcrumbs, work as quickly as possible to prevent the dough becoming warm.
  • Add the egg to the mixture and mix together, adding cold water a teaspoon at a time until the mixture binds but be careful to no make it too wet that it is sticky.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for a minimum of 15 minutes, up to 30 minutes.
Making the Mince Pies
  • Choose either a muffin or bun tin for the size of pie you want. Our preferred choice is a standard 12-cup muffin tin. The number of pies will depend on the size of cup you choose.
  • Dust a work surface lightly with some plain flour and roll out two-thirds of the pastry to 1/8″/3mm thick. Cut circles to line the cups of your tin, don’t worry if the pastry doesn’t come to the top.
  • Fill the pastry lined tins 2/3 full with mincemeat.
  • Roll out the remaining pastry to the same thickness and cut smaller circles to fit as lids on the tarts or to be decorative, cut stars or other fancy shapes to add to the top even more.
  • Dampen the edges of the pie bases with a little cold water and press the lids on. Make a small hole in the surface of each pie with a small sharp knife to allow the steam to escape.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 mins or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the icing sugar.

This is by far the best and most reliable cure to a hangover, not to mention that it is free. The water will help to reduce dizziness and headaches and also will settle your stomach. We’d suggest drinking water before you sleep, by the pint and also throughout the next day.

Sugary and salty foods may help in terms of stabilising your blood sugar after drinking alcohol, this will definitely make you feel less iffy and less unsteady. This acts in the same way as a greasy fry up would – unhealthy but tends to do the job on hangover days.

1. Find and Choose an Exercise that you enjoy - 

There is a reason why this is the first point on the agenda – as it is the foundation to an exercise plan. You wouldn’t want to do something you didn’t enjoy so why have to put yourself through an exerciseregime you don’t enjoy? When you choose an exercise you enjoy, it won’t feel so much like hard work. Some people like walking or jogging, others prefer cycling, weight work, tennis, squash, table tennis, swimming or even team sports like football or hockey. Some people prefer to do the same thing every day, others prefer variety in their program.
It doesn’t matter what type of exercise you do, as long as you do it consistently and if that exercise is an activity that you enjoy you should not feel the exercise is a burden to do daily or whenever you work at it.

2. Work at your own pace -

The benefits of exercise come from following a consistent program and sticking to it. If you go to the gym and work so hard that you are excessively tired and sore the next day, it’s difficult to maintain that consistency – you should aim to work your body sufficiently so that you can recover within the night or next day in order to work just as hard or even harder next time you are at the gym.
You DO NOT have to train to the point of exhaustion to benefit from your workout. All that you need to do is enough that you feel it’s somewhat of a challenge, but not so much that you couldn’t do the same thing again tomorrow.
Working to the point that you feel like you have achieved something or feel happy about what you have done, not so much that you cannot walk.

3. Find and use an exercise partner - 

Most people are more likely to stick with a daily exercise plan when others are involved. It’s easier to skip an exercise session when the only one you’re accountable to is yourself. But, when you know your friend is counting on you to join them, there’s little chance you won’t go through with it. An exercise partner does not have to come in the format of a friend, many people use forums and blogs to document their training, they even use mobile applications to track and progress further.

4. Don’t let a bad day or week derail your schedule - 

Although exercise shouldn’t be torture, be prepared that it will be challenging at times, and you may struggle a little, especially at first. You cannot always get the weather for a jog or even predict how busy the gym will be or even if you are feeling a bit under the weather, but that’s fine. If you find yourself starting to break away from your exercise plan, just pick up where you left off, and keep trying. Don’t be too hard on yourself, everyone has days when they don’t feel like exercising, just keep going as best you can and if you can, try a bit harder the next time.

5. Set goals for your exercise program - 

One thing that contributes most to our feeling of motivation to exercise, is to set goals, and then striving to achieve the goals that you set. The process of setting goals and achieving them, not only gives you a meaningful path of progress, it helps to build your confidence and self esteem. 1 – The Berlin Wall

Although almost entirely removed following the reunification, there are some sections of the wall that still remain standing, preserved as both a tourist attraction and a reminder of the horrors of war.
Back when the wall stood in its entirety, its purpose was to divide Berlin, and its occupants, between the Communist east and the political west side. When it was complete it ran for 87 miles through the city. Inside the East German side a second wall was built, creating a deserted space of land between the two that eventually earned itself the nickname ‘Death Strip’. Anyone who attempted a crossing over the wall was shot by stationed guards.

5 – Use Internet Cafe’s or Free Wi-Fi hotspots

You’ll be able to source out either free internet from an Internet Cafe or even Wi-Fi hotspots such as McDonalds or Starbucks.

6 – Talk with the Locals

As much as you can read online about guides and what to do, try talking to the locals. More often that not they will be friendly and helpful telling you what you should do, where you should go or what to try for dinner.

7- Learn their Words

The Australians have different versions for words and even different pronunciations, so it is advised that you read up on a few, such as meals and drinks.

8 – Find your own less-hyped spots

If you are backpacking you more than likely have a lot of time on your hands, you should as mentioned in point 6, talk with the locals and try out the spots that are less hyped and all the tourists might not know of.
